Stephanie D. Cox is the Assistant Dean for External Relations at University of Miami School of Law. Before joining Miami Law, Stephanie served over the last fifteen years in various roles and capacities within Advancement both in higher education and independent K-12 co-educational day schools. Most recently, Stephanie was the Assistant Dean for Advancement at the University of Washington School of Law. At UW Law, she was responsible for the management and leadership of the law school’s Advancement Unit which included Development, Alumni Relations, Marketing, Communications and Media Relations; Advancement Services and Academic Conferences, Symposia and CLE. Stephanie was UW Law’s 2013 Dean’s Medal Recipient and in 2009 was recognized as the University of Washington’s Advancement Star Award Winner.
Stephanie was a student-athlete and earned a B.A. in law and society from the University of California, Santa Barbara. After graduation, she played professional beach volleyball for 12 years and was sponsored by both NIKE and Oakley. She also was the head assistant coach of women’s volleyball at the University of California, Santa Barbara from 2000-2002.
She lives in Miami with her husband, José (Keno) Gándara, head coach of the University of Miami’s women’s volleyball team, and their son, Lucas.
